The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office capped its inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with the announcement of the first Latino Chief Assistant District Attorney, Eric Gonzalez. Special guests included Speaker of the New York City Council Melissa Mark-Viverito as the keynote speaker, and a panel of immigration attorneys, Jojo Annobil and Camielle Mackler. The event also featured dance performances and Hispanic cuisine.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office has a Town Hall Summit in Coney Island on Thursday, October 24, 2014 at Liberation Diploma Plus High School. Several members of the community attended as well as local leaders including Congressman Hakeem Jeffries and City Councilman Mark Treyger. Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson announced on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 that the murder convictions against David McCallum and Willie Stuckey were vacated. McCallum was released from prison after being behind bars for 29 years. Regretfully, Stuckey died in prison.
