Educational Presentations
Assistant district attorneys provide training and presentations for local schools and community-based organizations on various legal topics, including childhood bullying, elder abuse and fraud prevention, gang awareness, immigration, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
Criminal Court Tours
A civil education program that provides an in-depth look into the court system through tours, meetings with judges and interviews with assistant district attorneys.
Anti-Bullying Partnership to Prevent Violence and Suicide
The Anti-Bullying Partnership to Prevent Violence and Suicide is a coalition of City and nonprofit agencies, along with NYC Councilman Robert E. Cornegy, Jr., working in Bedford-Stuyvesant to increase parents’ awareness of the role social media plays in teen violence.

Digital Storytelling Project
A digital storytelling dialogue that amplifies the voices of youth influencers in Brooklyn by sharing the impact of real-world experiences such as cyber-bullying and online-harassment.

American Jurisprudence
An elective-credit class, that provides high school students with an in-depth look into the legal system. Student learning is further enhanced through court tours, internships, and lectures by assistant district attorneys.

Partnerships In Schools
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office contributes one program administrator and two social workers to provide support for both transfer students, under-credited and over-aged students.
Friday Night Lights
Located at the Miccio Cornerstone Community Center in Red Hook, 6th-8th grade students learn basketball fundamentals while building character and reducing the risk of delinquency during after-school hours.

Saturday Night Lights
Located in East New York, 6th-8th grade students learn basketball fundamentals while building character and reducing the risk of delinquency during Saturday evenings.

Chess
Provides chess-instruction for over 100, 3rd-8th graders at the Wynn Center in Bedford-Stuyvesant and at Breukelen Cornerstone in East New York/Canarsie. Helps to improve decision-making and inspires healthy strategies for problem solving. Partner: Police Athletic League
High School Internships
Our internship programs provide an intense and unique opportunity for young Brooklynites to learn about the criminal justice system and the role of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Internships are offered three times a year (Summer, Winter and Spring). The summer cycle provides a nominal weekly stipend.
If you have not been contacted regarding your internship application already for the 2024 cycle, please be advised that you were not selected to advance.
Mock Trial & Moot Court
Assistant District Attorneys coach Brooklyn high school teams in preparation for competing in the city-wide moot and mock trial competition.

Explorers
KCDA Volunteer Recruitment & Training Program
The Youth Initiatives Unit recruits and trains internal volunteers for select programs. Youth Initiatives have averaged between 30-50 KCDA support staff and ADA sign-ups.
Certificates of Excellence
A youth leadership recognition program where school principals nominate students who demonstrate a commitment to fairness and public safety.
Eagle Academy Mentoring Programs
Provides mentoring support and services for graduating 12th graders in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Assistant District Attorneys and other KCDA staff serve as year-long mentors that help youth understand the importance of higher education and developing healthy decision-making skills as part of the BK 9 and College and Scholarship Mentoring Programs.
